Release notes

This release focuses on achieving feature parity between our web and mobile platforms, enhancing our proprietary Cortexa AI extraction engine, and resolving several high-priority issues reported by our users.

New Features

Web-based receipt scanning and mileage tracking

You can now capture receipts and log business trips directly from the web dashboard. This update brings the core mobile workflow to your desktop, allowing for seamless management of your expenses regardless of the device you use.

Personal inbox tokens

Enhance the security of your email forwarding workflow. You can now generate unique Personal Inbox Tokens in your settings. These tokens ensure that receipts forwarded to expenses@apsense.app are accurately and securely routed to your specific account.

Multi-image support

Capture every detail of complex receipts. APSense now supports multiple images per expense, making it easy to document long restaurant bills, double-sided receipts, or multi-page PDF invoices.

Web Dashboard Parity

The web sidebar now includes a dedicated Mileage destination. This allows you to access your trip history and reimbursement totals with a single click, mirroring the primary navigation of the mobile app.

Integrated capture review

When you upload receipts via the web, you now see the same Capture Review interface found on mobile. This allows you to verify and edit AI-extracted details like vendor name, amount, and date before the expense is saved.

We consolidated the advanced filtering and search logic across all platforms. You now have access to the same powerful search parameters—including category, date range, and amount—whether you are on your phone or at your desk.

Vendor logo recognition

The web expense list now displays high-quality logos for over 100 popular vendors. This visual recognition helps you scan your expense history faster and gives your dashboard a professional, organized feel.

Improvements

Optimized local-first architecture

We refined our data synchronization layer to ensure the app remains responsive even with thousands of entries. The app now loads your primary expense list in under 500ms, providing instant access to your data regardless of your current connection speed.

Enhanced Cortexa AI accuracy

Our proprietary extraction engine is now more resilient. We improved the AI’s ability to read crumpled, faded, or poorly lit receipts, reducing the need for manual corrections.

Smart GPS mileage filtering

We updated our GPS tracking logic to eliminate “phantom mileage.” The system now intelligently filters out signal drift and noise that occurs when you are stationary, ensuring your mileage logs are accurate and audit-ready.

High-resolution PDF thumbnails

Professional PDF reports now feature higher-resolution receipt thumbnails. This ensures that your documentation remains clear and legible when shared with accounting departments or clients.

Bug Fixes

  • Web CSV Download: Resolved an issue where the “Download CSV” button on the web dashboard failed to trigger a file download.
  • Web PDF Display: Fixed a bug where manually uploaded PDF receipts appeared as generic icons; they now display as inline images within your reports.
  • Camera Permission Timing: Corrected the timing of permission requests so you are prompted to allow camera access before the scanner interface opens.
  • Manual Entry Crash: Fixed a LocaleDataException that occurred when adding expenses manually in certain regional settings.
  • Mobile Navigation: Resolved an issue in the mobile hamburger menu where clicking “Expenses” or “Reports” occasionally failed to switch tabs.

Security and Compliance

  • Hardened Approvals: Updated the report approval workflow to strictly verify user context, ensuring that only authorized individuals can approve or reject submitted reports.
  • Input Validation: Implemented stricter validation for all administrative operations to protect against malformed data and unauthorized access.
  • Android Data Safety: Updated app permissions to comply with the latest Play Store requirements, removing unnecessary storage access to better protect your privacy.
